Officer Deaths Up 20% in 2009

In a recent bulletin released by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, 2009 has seen an increase of officer deaths in the first six months of the year compared to the same period last year. However, 2008 recorded the lowest number of officer deaths in the last 40 years, continuing a downward trend since the early 70s. So although officer deaths are up from last year, they are still quite low overall and hopefully will stay that way.
