Local GIS Experts Help FBI Arrest Drug Traffickers

Cops get all the glory . . . unless you live in Collierville, Tenn. That is where two members of the local police department’s GIS Division were able to help FBI agents track down and arrest two known drug traffickers on the run.

When the FBI rolled into town looking for a couple who had fled South Carolina to avoid prosecution on drug trafficking charges, Jim Butcher, manager of the towns GIS division, and Keith Reasons, a technician, were able to provide mapping resources quickly and efficiently.

As a direct result of their help, the FBI was able to apprehend the suspects. In addition, Butcher and Reasons, were both commended for the efforts by the FBI in a letter to the town mayor from the special agent in charge of the case.
