Attorney General, Eric Holder, addressed attendees at the National Institute of Justice Conference recently and pushed for more integration of intelligence-led policing. Holder, mentioned that the President’s 2010 budget calls for increased spending on scientific research, which includes criminology.

He also pointed out that although the stereotypical view is that prosecutors and police officers aren’t interested in research, he has found that view to be false. In addition he praised current efforts in decrease crime through a multi-disciplinary approach to crime prevention and reduction and said that such efforts work and are more effective than programs that do not take into account a full spectrum of approaches and practices.
