Vivek Kundra, the newly appointed government CIO, had some big plans for creating better data sharing between government agencies and more transparency in government. Those plans have been put on hold now that Kundra has taken a leave of absence after an FBI raid on his office last Thursday. Although Kundra is not under investigation by the FBI, some former business associates are accused of taking bribes and other improper actions. This does not bode well for the government’s first appointed CIO because these breaches of public trust happened under his watch as the District of Columbia’s CIO. For more information on Kundra’s case and the future of information sharing at the federal level, check out these article at Federal Computer Week, ComputerWorld, and FederalTimes.com.
