According to an article published by the Herald-Zeitung, the New Braunfels Police Department is reaching out to local businesses and calling for more community involvement in local policing. Chief Ron Everett hopes the outreach program will help reduce crime in the area. “Having businesses be our eyes and ears will help deter crime in our city, help us apprehend suspects and overall just make this a better place to live,” said Everett. The NBPD is stressing that local businesses form watch groups and use online resources like CrimeReports.com
